Laweyan Batik village is one of a center area batik industry in Solo Central Java Indonesia which has existed since 1546s and achieve greatness in the 1970s.
Traditional art batik has been constantly engaging by Laweyan communities until now.
The batik activities atmosphere in Laweyan past dominated by the presence of the batik bosses as a business owner.
When we visited there, we can see the process of making batik and even get a short course of making batik by ourselves.
That's a kind of excited experience that we will not get in stores or boutiques elsewhere.
As a strategic move to preserve the art of batik, Laweyan Batik village is designed as a settlement batik, even officially been announce by Solo City Government as one of the attractions shopping in Solo.

Along the way of Kauman Batik village, the visitors can find at least 20 showroom / gallery batik, there are Puspa Kencana Batik, Morin Modiste, Nesa Noer, Cempaka, Gunawan Design, Gres Tenan, Molino, Chusnul Khotimah, New Tjahaya, Nugroho, Santika, Sidoluhur, Adityan, Merak Ati, Tjokro Sumanto, Gentong Ayu, Putra Laweyan, Luar Biasa, Merak Manis and Cahaya Putra.
